Over Memorial Day weekend, 2005, we travelled with the Cory and Scriber families to Nauvoo, Illinois, a
town on the banks of the Mississippi river that had been home to many of the members of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before religious persecution forced them west. The Church recently
rebuilt the Nauvoo temple, which was destroyed by fire and a tornado after the Saints left Nauvoo
beginning in 1846.
